In order to tow damaged cars, a specialized tow strap is used. This strap is utilized to transport broken down vehicles in many South American countries with poorly maintained road systems. The materials used make the strap capable of withstanding the rough forces that can be applied by broken cars with misaligned axles and other structural problems. The straps also have additional layers of padding and protective materials so that further harm is not inflicted onto the already damaged car. There are also different ways the car may be towed, for example, the car can be towed from the front or from the rear which require different towing designs. These features make the strap culturally versatile.
